The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson {Yomna's Review}

My rating: 4/5

Spoiler free!

Morgan Matson does not disappoint. My favourite of her books remains Amy and Roger's Epic Detour, but this one was pretty fabulous.

I got into this book pretty fast, however, about fifty pages in, I was unimpressed with the side characters. They seemed to be very flat, so I grew a bit bored with the story. However, the book soon picks as you see more of Andie's (the main character) friends.

The writing in this book wasn't spectacular in the swoonworthy kind of way, but I still enjoyed it. Again, not my favourite of Morgan Matson's books.

"
I could do this. If whole galaxies could change, so could I."

I really liked the father-daughter relationship in this book. One of the best things about Morgan Matson is that she focuses on and values relationships in life other than romantic relationships, which makes the book very thoughtful and full of depth. If you don't relate to the romance in the story, you can relate to the family issues or the issues with friends, and etc...

I loved loved Clark. Fantasy author with glasses? Sign me the hell up! I love fantasy, so it'd be pretty cool.

Speaking of fantasy, I really liked the whole 'pretending we're fictional characters' thing. It was so cute. Made the story that much more fun!

In conclusion, while this book is not perfect, it is a solid read. And I recommend it for anyone who loves contemporary romance and Morgan Matson!

thanks,
yomna
