Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur {Yomna's Review}

My rating: 4/5

If I had to choose one book of poems to read in my whole life I would probably pick this one.
If you are a young feminist you are missing out on a lot if you don't pick this one up. The writing is absolutely enchanting and stunning. I cannot begin to express my admiration.

Yomna's Pick #7

Quote of the week
You are an ember in the ashes, Elias Veturius. You will spark and burn, ravage and destroy. You cannot change it. You cannot stop it.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Laia is a slave.
Elias is a soldier.
Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.
It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.
But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.
There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

Over a sizzling roller-coaster summer, Llyr introduces Crystal to magic she’d only ever dreamed of. But as Crystal comes to love Starfish Island, it begins to drive her family apart. Srishti's Pick #6

Quote of the week

I didn't know what was worse. To have your shot and screw it up, or to never have had a shot in the first place.

I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.

But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado - taking you with it - you have no choice but to go along, you know?

Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little bluebirds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still a yellow brick road - but even that's crumbling.

What happened? Dorothy.

They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.

My name is Amy Gumm - and I'm the other girl from Kansas.

I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.

I've been trained to fight.

And I have a mission.

Q & A by Vikas Swarup

Vikas Swarup's spectacular debut novel opens in a jail cell in Mumbai, India, where Ram Mohammad Thomas is being held after correctly answering all twelve questions on India's biggest quiz show, Who Will Win a Billion? It is hard to believe that a poor orphan who has never read a newspaper or gone to school could win such a contest. But through a series of exhilarating tales Ram explains to his lawyer how episodes in his life gave him the answer to each question.

Ram takes us on an amazing review of his own history - from the day he was found as a baby in the clothes donation box of a Delhi church to his employment by a faded Bollywood star to his adventure with a security-crazed Australian army colonel to his career as an overly creative tour guide at the Taj Mahal.

This book has been interpreted into a movie under the name of Slumdog Millionaire. It has multiple changes such as deaths that wasn't there or name changes, etc. The pictures underneath are from the movie.

How to deal with an EXTREMELY obsessed fangirl friend

Yomna: Ha ha this post!!! How to deal with an extremely obsessed fangirl friend? You don't.
Srishti: That is where you are wrong!
This goes without saying, we all are fangirls, even if it is about a TV show, a book, a celebrity, we all are passionate about something! But we sometimes go a bit more obsessive then normal about something. Or someone else does. I have been categorizing these sublime people and to say it simply you are the fourth if you fall under the extremely obsessive person. So before talking about how to deal with these people here are my categories.

My five all time favourite Wattpad books: (Srishti)

I absolutely love Wattpad. It is a great app that permits you too explore million books written by people just like you. Unfortunately, some books aren't great and have grammatical errors. When you find good books however you can't let them go. I have come across many books, all of them fantastic but they all thought me a lesson, so here is why I am here to share them.

There is so much different genres of books that I was going crazy. I fell in love with each and every book I had the pleasure to read and appreciate! I especially loved the bad boy themed books. Unfortunately for yo, I haven't mentioned any here. I choose five easy reads that will be read in about a day or two. That's how good they are. It was hard for me to choose five to show but here are the five gems I had the pleasure to read:

P.S. I haven't inserted any descriptions as I was to lazy but you can find them on google so YAY!

Quote of the Week
For love, people consider the unthinkable...and often achieve the impossible. I would not sneer at its power.

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdeih
In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

Inspired by A Thousand and One NightsThe Wrath and the Dawn is a sumptuous and enthralling read from beginning to end.

The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski {Yomna's review}: Some kisses come at a price

War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it with untrustworthy new allies and the empire as his enemy. Though he has convinced himself that he no longer loves Kestrel, Arin hasn’t forgotten her, or how she became exactly the kind of person he has always despised. She cared more for the empire than she did for the lives of innocent people—and certainly more than she did for him.

At least, that’s what he thinks.

In the frozen north, Kestrel is a prisoner in a brutal work camp. As she searches desperately for a way to escape, she wishes Arin could know what she sacrificed for him. She wishes she could make the empire pay for what they’ve done to her.

But no one gets what they want just by wishing.

As the war intensifies, both Kestrel and Arin discover that the world is changing. The East is pitted against the West, and they are caught in between. With so much to lose, can anybody really win?

SPOILERS! Do me a favor, please, if you haven't read this book, turn away now.

Unpopular Book Opinions {Srishti}

History: The unpopular opinions book tag was actually on booktube, a booktuber called The Book Archer created a set of questions for booktubers to answer about their unpopular book opinions. I saw several videos of this, the original, amongst others, and I really wanted to do it, but I'm not a booktuber so I decided to answer all the questions in a blog post.

So here you go! Enjoy! Be careful this contains spoilers

Quote of the week #4 | Srishti's Pick

Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.

Alice in Wonderland (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland #1)

I haven't found any good blurb to offer for this amazing story so I am going to try to do it myself, so here we go!

*clearing of throats, which leads to small chocking sounds* I am OK!

Alice in Wonderland is an amazingly written story by British writer Lewis Carol, it is the first book of a 2 book series called Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It follows young girl Alice's first journey in Wonderland where she finds herself after chasing and falling through a hole, looking at a mysterious rabbit. She finds herself in a mad world where nothing is impossible. Follow her through Lewis Carol's extraordinary story in her adventures where everyone and probably including the reader is mad. But aren't all the best people mad?
