A Court of Wings and Ruin | I'm absolute trash for this series {Yomna's Review}

Wow. I am so emotionally drained right now I can’t even function. I stayed up till 3 AM reading this book (bad idea) and I planned to drink coffee today (Even though I’ve never drunk more than one sip of coffee in my life and it’s weird that I’m even thinking about it) but forgot. Never again, because I am exhausted and about to collapse. It was worth it though. I really enjoyed finishing the book quietly at night at home, rather than on the bus or in school. I got to cry and feel in peace.

Is Sarah J Maas' Writing Abusive? | Yomna's Thoughts

A Court of Wings and Ruin came out last Tuesday (May 2nd) so I decided to write my thoughts on Sarah J Maas' writing. These thoughts do not include ACOWAR because I haven't read ACOWAR (yet).

EDIT: This post was written in May 2017 when I was much younger than I am now. Although my perspective about many of these instances has not changed, just take my thoughts with a grain of salt because I am aware of and acknowledge everyone's perspective and experience being different. Like everyone else, SJM's writing has flaws, but I choose to suspend my disbelief and see the appeal in the kind of characters represented because in the end this is a book about faeries in a fictional land and we shouldn't be looking to it for pointers on how to conduct real-life relationships. This post has been edited for coherence since its original posting. END OF EDIT

In a world where feminism is a prominent movement, we are forced to question what kind of relationships we see in our literature, and find the line where ‘cute’ becomes ‘abusive’.

I call myself a feminist. I admire the values feminism stands for, and will willingly advocate for its goals. Of course, I am not perfect, and that’s why I don’t pretend that I am always right in demonstrating my feminism, nor do I present myself as a flawless candidate for a movement that is so much bigger than me.

ACOWAR Playlist | Yomna's Picks

HELLO GUYS!!!
ACOWAR gets released tomorrow, tomorrow!!! I like to listen to songs while reading, so I decided to make a playlist and share it with you guys. Please note that these songs have probably nothing to do with the book or what I hope will or will not happen they are just good beats.

The song list, however more songs have been added on the spotify playlist:

Listen to it on Spotify here (there is one song missing the Taylor Swift song because she doesn't have her music on Spotify) :

ACOMAF Moments When We All Knew Feylin Was Over | Yomna's Post

This picture of a shipwreck seemed fitting.

It might've been doomed from the beginning, but boy do these moments make it obvious! And as a Feysand (Feyre and Rhysand for you ignorant people! Just kidding I love you!) shipper, I am soooo here for it!

Yomna's Pick #27

Quote of the Month

It's not like there's a law against flying. Yes there is. The law of gravity.

Around the world, black hand prints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil’s supply of human teeth grows dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherworldly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real, she’s prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands", she speaks many languages - not all of them human - and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she’s about to find out.

When beautiful, haunted Akiva fixes fiery eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

Srishti's Pick #26 + 5 Min Review

Quote of the month

I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine.

                     Pride and Prejudice

Rating: 4.5/5

Pride and Prejudice is a must read! It embarks you in a "worth-it" kind of way, it is absolutely enchanting. The characters are all quirky and witty in their own way. The main love interest turned my insides into mush. Mr. Darcy if you are out there and single please come to my rescue! Jane Austen sure knows how to make girls fangirl. I must admit, I don't understand why I have never read this earlier. I have heard plenty of people talking about it but I couldn't bring myself to read it.

Plus, it is free on the kindle, what is better than that? Now you have no excuse not to read it! I am having a dilemma, though, should I or should I not read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?

Love, Srishti

A Crown of Wishes | Magically Wondrous {Yomna's Review}

Danger takes on new shapes: poisonous courtesans and mischievous story birds, a feast of fears and twisted fairy revels.

Every which way they turn new trials will test their wit and strength. But what Gauri and Vikram will soon discover is that there’s nothing more dangerous than what they most desire.

"You are surprisingly lovely."

This is what I call perfection! And the cover is so gorgeousss.

No spoilers!

This book comes out in the UK on the 28th of March, 2017!

King's Cage | The ending will kill you {Yomna's Review}

OMG this book is amazing!

The tagline, "All will burn" really confuses me. I mean, there's definitely a lot of burning, but I think there's more electrocution. I think "All will be electrocuted" is more accurate. Better yet, "Readers will die." Might as well warn the reader what they're getting into.

My rating: 5/5

"I remember all the death. All the heartache."
