The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons

I just finished this book, it's called The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons.

Description on Goodreads:

In a world where females are scarce and are hunted, then bought and sold at market for their breeding rights, 15-year old Aya has learned how to hide. With a ragtag bunch of other women and girls, she has successfully avoided capture and eked out a nomadic but free existence in the mountains. But when Aya’s luck runs out and she’s caught by a group of businessmen on a hunting expedition, fighting to survive takes on a whole new meaning.

My rating: 4/5
My review:
This is a very haunting vision of the future. It's very scary but at the same time thought-provoking because it makes you think about how uncertain of a future we may be looking at. It's essentially a survival story but there's romance in there. I have to say the way it's written is utterly beautiful.

Needless to say, if you're looking for a fast airport read, this is NOT the book for you. This is a very heart-breaking story about protecting who you love and learning how to belong to someone, not as an object that they can control but just loving someone so much part of you will always belong to them, just as part of them belongs to you.

This book was well-paced and full of fresh ideas, and I strongly recommend it if you like dystopia and romance.
